Immerse yourself in the spectacular biodiversity and vibrant culture of Brazil, one of the most magical countries in the world.

Gold-Compass.png

From the busy streets of São Paulo to the remote waterways of the Amazon to the gorgeous beaches and sensational Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro, we’ll take you deep into this incredible country and help you understand its history, its people and the vital role it plays in our planet’s health.

Hosted by Inspired Sojourns founders Jason Leon-Baptista and Steve Dobbins, this nine-day meticulously curated adventure is limited to 16 explorers and promises to be a life-changing, life-affirming experience for each member of the troupe.

Highlights will include:

  • An unforgettable Welcome Dinner at one of São Paulo’s chicest restaurants.

  • An epic journey into the world's largest rainforest en route to our luxury ecolodge deep in the Amazon jungle.

  • Exploring the Amazon via daily adventures, including speedboat excursions, kayaking, nocturnal safaris, piranha fishing, visits to the pink dolphins, and spectacular nature hikes — all with an expert naturalist guide.

  • Your first glimpse of Rio’s breathtaking Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer.

  • A soul-feeding night of music and dance with a famed Samba School as they rehearse for Carnival.

As with all Inspired Sojourns, our Brazil adventure will seek out the region’s best food and wine (and caipirinhas!); art, music and culture; connections with locals; and out-of-the-ordinary experiences not available to an average tourist. We’ll be pampered, but we’ll also be encouraged to push our limits, think differently, and discover magic every step along the way.

INSPIRED: SÃ0 PAULO

Our adventure begins in São Paulo, Brazil’s dynamic capital and the eighth largest city in the world. You’ll be greeted at the Guarulhos International Airport, then transferred to the five-star Emiliano São Paulo, which Tablet says “will leave design and architecture junkies speechless.”

We’ve purposefully left this first day open to allow travelers to adjust after the long flights to Brazil. We’ll have a variety of optional activities available for the afternoon.

The Sojourn officially kicks off Saturday night with a Welcome Dinner in one of São Paulo’s top restaurants. Like New York and Mexico City, São Paulo is known for its world-class dining scene. We’ll get a glimpse into the city’s dynamic culture while setting the stage for the adventure to come.

Sunday morning, we check out of the hotel and head to airport for the three-hour flight to Manaus in the heart of the Amazon.

INSPIRED: AMAZON

Wild — there’s no other way to describe it.

The heart of our next Flagship Sojourn drops us deep in the middle of one of the world’s most mysterious yet vital areas — a vast landscape that is home to one fifth of the world’s fresh water, where new species of fish, birds and animals continue to be discovered. One of the world’s last great natural areas of wilderness, the Amazon is a truly awe-inspiring location that must be experienced to be fully understood.

Arriving in Manaus, we’ll be whisked away to our home for the next five days — Mirante do Gavião Lodge, a luxury sustainably designed eco-lodge on the banks of the Rio Negro River. Built with natural materials and inspired by the great Amazonian riverboats, the lodge’s spacious, well-appointed curved suites blend into the dense landscape and feature panoramic views of the archipelago.

Each day we’ll explore different parts of the region, including a speedboat trip to the famed Meeting of the Waters, where the dark waters of the Rio Negro and pale sandy waters of the Amazon River flow side-by-side for 3.5 miles without mixing. We’ll track the pink freshwater dolphins (“boto”), fish for piranha, uncover the creatures that only come out at night, and boat through the intricate waterways that are home to scores of plant, bird and animal species.

Every outing will be led by one of the lodge’s expert eco-guides who will help us understand the region’s critical role in our planet’s health.

We’ll visit indigenous communities to learn about life in the Amazon and the programs helping locals to pursue careers in ecotourism, meet with experts leading conversation efforts, and delve into Amazonian art with the curators of a local gallery.

Back at camp, enjoy incredible cuisine by celebrated chef Debora Shornik, take a dip in the lodge’s spectacular pool, indulge in massages in the wellness center, and experience unforgettable sunsets from one of the many viewing decks.

Leave the Amazon inspired, invigorated and more connected to this incredible planet we call home.

Next stop: Rio.

INSPIRED: RIO DE JANEIRO

From the remote wilderness of the Amazon, head to one of the world’s most vibrant cities, Rio de Janeiro, for a three-day cultural explosion.

Nestled amongst emerald-green rainforests, soaring mountains, blue lagoons and miles and miles of white-sand beaches, Rio de Janeiro earns its reputation as one of the world’s most beautiful cities. But the city’s greatest treasure is its people — the Cariocas with their relaxed, friendly and undeniably sexy style. The combination is a raucous force fueled by samba, bossa nova and caipirinha.

rooftop-pool.jpg

Our home for the final leg of Inspired Brazil is the modernist masterpiece Emiliano Rio, designed by architect Arthur Casas and perfectly seated on the legendary Copacabana Beach. This extraordinary hotel is a stylish, peaceful retreat in the middle of Rio’s hottest neighborhood. The sumptuous rooms are spacious and oozing with style; the butlers are attentive; and the rooftop bar and pool boast some of the city’s best views.

We’ll take morning excursions to the must-see sites, including Sugar Loaf and famed Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Corcovado, and have left the afternoons free for days at the beach or optional activities, ranging from art walks to paragliding. One evening, we’ll have dinner in one of the city’s best restaurants, overlooking the famed Brazilian Jockey Club.

And our final night of the Sojourn promises to be one you’ll never forget. We’ll be special guests at one of the city’s top Samba Schools as they rehearse for Carnival. It will be a raucous night of music, dance, food, drink and unbridled joy.

After a wild night at the Samba School, our Brazil Sojourn ends with a wonderful farewell lunch at Assador, the city’s top steak house and the perfect setting for our final meal together (for now!).

Leave Brazil with new friends, priceless memories and a deep connection to this remarkable country and its beautiful people.
